Contact lens prescriptions expire. Most are written for a year, sometimes two, and once yours lapses we are not able to fill an order against it — that is not us being difficult, it is the rule that keeps a lens that no longer fits your eye off your eye.<\/p>\n
We are not an optometrist and we cannot write or extend a prescription. What we can do is save you the phone call. Give us your optometrist’s name and clinic when you order and we will contact them directly for a copy of your current prescription. Most practices come back to us within a day or two, and you do not have to do anything while we wait.<\/p>\n
If you would rather handle it yourself, you can also photograph your prescription and send it over, or type the numbers in at checkout — we verify either way before anything ships.<\/p>\n
If your prescription has genuinely expired, your optometrist will want to see you before writing a new one. Book the appointment first; we will be here afterwards, and the details will already be on file so reordering takes a minute.<\/p>\n
The date is printed on the prescription itself, and it is usually a year from the exam.
